1. Do you have to be Latino or in technology to join this organization?

Latino in information sciences and technology association is an organization of Latino technology professionals, businessmen and educators founded to enhance the quality of life of Latinos and the development of the next generation of leadership for the Latino community. No you do not need to be Latino in order to be apart of this organization. LISTA is an organization making a difference in many underserved communities, all are welcome.

 

2. Where is your headquarters and is there a tech councils in my town?

3. Who founded LISTA?

LISTA was founded in New York City in 2000 by a group of senior latino technology executives and business owners concerned about the lack of Latino technology leadership and the effects on the Latino community, LISTA is an organization of great growth and opportunity, today LISTA continues to develop new tech councils throughout country.Read History

4. How do I start a chapter in my town?

LISTA is always looking to open new territory and looking for Latino leaders, and business owners who share our same passion, ideals, and global objectives of making latinos synonymous with technology. If we don’t have a council and are interested in developing one, send us an email at info@a-lista.org

5. How long has LISTA been in existence?

LISTA has been working to help conquer the digital divide and create awareness of technology in our community for many years, since the year 2000 we have been hard at work making sure that the Latino community does not continue to lag in the use of technology, that we continue to start business and encourage entrepreneurship in the technology sector and the development of IT, IS and Telecommunications professionals. 6. What can LISTA do for me as a student, professional, business owner?

Because of LISTA’s extensive reach and its magnificent sponsors the possibilities are limitless, our student councils offers you training opportunities, resume help, and many other powerful tools. 8. How often do we have events?

LISTA national has many events throughout the year.  Nationally LISTA holds 6 events: The LISTA National Technology Achievers Award Gala, Project Dreams Humanitarian Mission, LISTA Get IT- Get the Edge Conference, LISTA Legislative Technology Breakfasts, LISTA La Familia Technology Awareness Week and LISTA 3 Kings Fiesta Navideña. While LISTA local technology councils hold workshops, and seminars, L2 Initiative program, networking event, procurement and business opportunities to help develop more Latino technology businesses and help the Latino community understand trends in the industry for their empowerment. LISTA Local tech Councils hold monthly events in which everyone can participate,

9. How will LISTA help me in growing my business?

As a member of LISTA you will be part of our network where you will have many opportunities and resources available to you, e-newsletters and other publications will keep you informed of trends and opportunities.  We will hold special events throughout the year where you’ll meet many of today’s Latino technology professionals, executives and business leaders and hear from them different strategies to be successful. Throughout the year we will hold procurement workshops and don’t forget our tech directory, career center and LISTA TV.

11. What has LISTA accomplished within the Hispanic community?

In the past years LISTA has reach many milestones and objectives, we are humbled and appreciate the recognition of our peers. Amongst the many proclamations, certificates and awards LISTA has won we are most proud of being chosen as a National Hispanic Achievers Award and New York State Federation Trade Association of the Year recipient in 2004 . We were honored to have been recognized in 2005 by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as East Coast Trade Association of the Year and in 2006 we were once again recognized as most  Influential Hispanic Organization and Jose Marquez LISTA National President/CEO was recognized in the 100 Most Important Hispanics in Technology and Business by Hispanic Engineer Magazine But most importantly we have the opportunity to serve our Latino community. As we forge a niche for the Latino technology professionals we continue to give back by empowering the next generation.

12. What other professional organizations besides technology are involved with LISTA?

LISTA nationally has affiliations with over 100 technology, educational  and professional association from across the country including Black Data Processors Association (BDPA), The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), Career Communication Media Group (CCG), Association of Chinese Computer Professionals (ACCP), Aspira, United States Hispanic Advocacy Association (USHHA), HTTP Technology & Telecommunications Partnership (HTTP), Hispanic Information Technology Network (HITN), The Latino Institute, Cuban American Council (CNC), Hispanic Professional Networking Group (HPNG) Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) Hispanic Professional Network(HPN-CT) and Hispanic Alliance for career Enhancement(HACE) just to name a few.
